Granny was 80 years old when she crashed the car and kept on having falls – so she came to live with us.
It was meant to be a short holiday ,but she stayed on longer. No problem for us ! and no problem for her !
Below are photo’s of various stages of her stay .
The Oven had a safety switch, so I turned switch off at the wall as soon as I had finished cooking. Water Temperature thermostat was kept at a moderate heat level , so scalding boiling water did not come out of the tap. My mother set the kitchen alight by trying to help ! Luckily it was a wooden breadboard , so I dashed to the sink and put fire out . Being a Carer I was on continual alert !
Easy access and everything within reach . In the early stage of Alzheimer’s , my mother did not forget to turn off the tap , but as she progressed we all had to keep watch on the bathroom . I also had the water thermostat turned down to a lower temperature , so my mother did not scald herself with boiling water. My mother loved a hot bath, but it was better to be safe than sorry !
