The Alzheimer’s Umbrella!

Alzheimer’s Notebook

The website for  Dementia Disease and Memory Loss  Support.  Topics, Tips & Advice with help for everyone.

Being a Registered  Nurse  I have been confronted with problems associated with ageing and trying to cope with modern day lifestyles.
My mother was a Royal Naval nurse back in the 1950’s.   She was fit and healthy until the age of 79 yrs when she crashed her car for no apparent reason – into the Garage Door!   At the time it was unfathomable to understand why a lady who was always very smart, quick minded and intelligent should have this happen to her !

Little did we know that within 6 months she would be diagnosed with Alzheimer’s / Vascular Dementia Disease and she herself would be in a state of shock – as she was still suffering only small memory lapses.

Sadly her health declined over the next 6 years until she was bed bound ( End / Final  Stage)  and unable to feed herself.  (As she is now)
